"...when Michael became ill and a cure was no longer an option, he wanted the time he had left to focus on the memorable, not the medical.  He wanted to live out his final days in comfort surrounded by the family he loved rather than in a hospital room. Michael chose hospice care."                     Lipka Family

Community Hospices helps enhance the quality of life for people with advanced chronic and life-limiting illnesses by providing comfort care which means relieving physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering. We provide hospice care wherever people live: in homes; long-term care facilities; group homes or hospitals. We also help manage acute symptoms and pain in our hospice Inpatient Unit co-located with our skilled nursing facility.

Hospice is:

  • a concept of care for people with terminal illnesses, their caregivers and their families, that allows them to make decisions about their care
  • a plan that treats the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, their families and loved ones - unlike traditional medical care that focuses only on the physical needs of patients
  • a plan that enables patients with terminal illnesses to live their remaining days comfortably, surrounded by the people and the things they love
  • a plan that provides terminally ill patients and their loved ones

- comfort
- control
- choices
- compassion
