You have chosen a long-term care facility for your loved one that demonstrates you care about his of her comfort, care and quality of life.

As a family member, caregiver or friend of a resident of The Washington Home you are invited to join the Family Council.

The Family Council at The Washington Home provides an excellent opportunity for families and friends of residents to meet and get acquainted with one another. It is also a forum to receive education and to share information and concerns.

Our Goals and Purposes
The goals of the Family Council are to give families, caregivers and friends a voice in decisions affecting their loves ones as well as the opportunity to protect and improve the quality of life for all residents of The Washington Home.

The purposes of the Family Council are:
• Welcome and support
• Education and information
• Action on shared concerns and complaints
• Effective communication within The Washington Home
• Services and activities for residents

Letter From the Family Council Chairperson
As chairperson of the Family Council, I want to help you get better acquainted with your loved one's new residence, and also I want to give you the chance to meet and talk with other members.

I invite you to attend the next Family Council meeting. These meetings are filled with caring, concerned individuals who, just like you, are dedicated to protecting the quality of life for all residents in long-term care at The Washington Home.

Membership
All members of the Family Council are relatives, caregivers or friends of the Washington Home's residents. The Family Council meets the second Tuesday of every month. To join, simply print out the membership form, complete it, and bring to the next meeting.

Meetings
Family Council meetings are held at The Washington Home on the second Tuesday of each month. As a member, you will receive an agenda prior to each meeting.

The purpose of these meetings is to keep Family Council members up-to-date and informed on all the latest news and developments relating to their loved one’s care. Family Council members are encouraged to express any concerns. In addition, guest speakers present topics of interest to the Family Council. Please call our Family Council Information Line if you have a particular speaker or topic request.
