“I first approached volunteering at The Washington Home with the lofty goal of changing the lives of others, but the life that has changed the most is my own. I went in giving and came out with more rewards than I ever expected.”

-Megan, volunteer

Whether a volunteer is helping at mealtime, bringing a pet or a baby for a visit, or updating a database, each contributes greatly to the quality of life of the people that we serve. Over 300 volunteers serve our residents and patients on a regular basis. Hundreds more visit The Washington Home for special functions, events, and activities.

The Washington Home attracts and needs volunteers of just about every age, race, ethnic background, skill, and interest. Though we are thrilled to have volunteers with special talents - musicians, massage therapists, artists and computer experts - we need people who can simply be friendly companions.
